Claude Opus 4.1 has been released in public preview for developers using GitHub Copilot across several popular integrated development environments (IDEs), including Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse.

Availability in GitHub Copilot

  • Eligible Users: Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Pro+ plan subscribers.
  • Access Points: Users can access Claude Opus 4.1 through GitHub Copilot Chat on:
    • github.com
    • GitHub Mobile
    • Visual Studio, VS Code
    • JetBrains IDEs
    • Xcode and Eclipse
  • Model Picker: Claude Opus 4.1 becomes available in the chat model picker, supporting Agent, Ask, and Edit modes.
  • Rollout: If you do not immediately have access, check back periodically as rollout continues.

Enabling Access

  • Copilot Enterprise administrators need to manually enable Claude Opus 4.1 via the administrative Copilot settings.
  • Once enabled, users within that organization will see Claude Opus 4.1 as an option in the chat model picker.
